Minutes before sunrise Luna was up, looking around she saw her three friends still asleep. She tried to go out without waking them up when Nicholas, one of her roommates, opened his eyes.

"Why are you up so early, did something happen?" Nick mumbled sleepily. Luna gestured with one hand to be quiet and the other to Nick to come over.

Nicholas sat up from his bed in surprise and listened to Luna. After closing the door quietly behind them, Luna turned to her friend "I'm a little nervous about today." Luna said. Nicholas looked puzzled.

"Luna and being nervous." he said sarcastically. Luna had been the calmest of the two throughout the training. Even though Nicholas hadn't known her for very long, he knew she was the type of person who didn't get agitated easily.

"When I'm like this, I leave the camp and go somewhere, maybe that's why you're so surprised," Luna said as she walked out. It was the first time Nicholas had seen this side of her.

Luna had decided to take him to her special place that she had never shown anyone before, it was where she had found herself whenever she felt hopeless and lonely when she first came to the training camp.

When they came to the lake near the camp they stopped and Luna sat down in front of it. Nicholas looked admiringly at Luna and then at the lake.

"I didn't even know there was a lake in this area," Nick said. Luna smiled and continued to watch the lake. Like the young girl, Nick felt something strange as he sat down across the lake. He was surprised when Luna turned to him. "Did something happen?"

Nick, who covered his hands with pink magic, seemed to be in a trance, his eyes shining intensely. Luna immediately sat up from her seat. Nick was an eye magic user, this power added another dimension to his vision.

"I see a village near here, they are being attacked, an evil spirit." he said respectively. When he came to, he started running with all his strength, Luna followed him. They needed a good rest for today's hunter exam, but the situation was serious. No matter how much she shouted after him to slow down, Nick only responded by saying follow.

Indeed, there was a small village nearby. Nicholas stopped in front of the village and fell to his knees at the sight. "We're late, Luna," he said. He stared at the ruined houses. He could only imagine what Nick had been through in his past, and it saddened him to see how much it had affected him. As she approached him to comfort him, she heard a hideous growling scream, the scream of an evil spirit.

With a wave of his hand, his magic took the form of a sword. "We may be late, but I will avenge them," Luna roared. She was running with all her might to where the sound came from when she saw the hulking beast in front of her and switched to attack mode. Intensifying her magic even more, she slashed at the beast's arm. The evil spirit let out a louder scream in pain.

The beast raised its long, sharp fingers to attack Luna, who jumped backwards. She had to put distance between her and the beast. Judging by its appearance, she could easily tell that it was a level A spirit. As the beast approached her for another attack, she swung her sword at it to knock it back.

Stepping back, the monster fell on a collapsing house. Luna concentrated her magic and jumped on the evil spirit as soon as she added power to her sword. Her goal was to tear its head from its body. Looking into the creature's ice blue eyes made her remember the evil spirit she had killed as a child.

The evil spirit took advantage of Luna's loss of focus and swung at her with its hand. Not realising what had happened, Luna suddenly found herself knocked to the ground. When she gathered her strength and tried to stand up, she fell again. She was surprised by the sudden jolt.

Luna tried to regain her balance as the beast lifted itself from the rubble and began to walk towards her. She formed her magic into the shape of a sword as the beast approached her step by step. Luna tried to take cover as the evil spirit raised its hand to attack.

Unable to anticipate the severity of the attack, she closed her eyes tightly, protecting herself with her sword, and when she felt nothing, she opened her eyes. A purple spell was visible on the creature's arm, holding it. Not knowing what to think at that moment, he separated the creature's head from its body with all his strength.

As he watched the evil spirit turn into a cloud of black dust, he fell to his knees and began to breathe. He wasn't sure if there was another hunter nearby or if he had seen it wrong, but he could have sworn he had caught a glimpse of purple magic. Someone had protected her from the monster's attack.

Hearing Nicholas' voice, she tried to turn towards him. Nick was running towards Luna, worried. "Nick! Did you see what I saw?" said Luna in surprise. Nick turned to her, not understanding, and at the same time was trying to help her to her feet. "I'll let Miss Liz know, hold on," Nick said as they realised Luna's leg was broken.

Nick was trying to use his eye magic to send word to Miss Liz, who was an eye magic user like him, but she couldn't remember Nick sending word from so far away before. Luna waited for him to come to, and when Nick's eyes changed from pink to his own colour, she said sweetly, "They're coming, everything's fine, don't worry."

Mr Joseph was healing Luna's broken leg while scolding his students at the same time, but Luna was still thinking about the purple spell she had glimpsed. Luna was startled by Madison's sudden appearance at the door. "Madison it's good that you're here, go ahead." she said as she stepped back to let Madison heal Luna.

As soon as Mr Joseph left the room, Madison began to take it out on Luna. No matter how much Luna apologised, Madison was mad that she only thought about herself so much. When Laurence entered the room, everyone fell silent. Without saying anything, he looked at Luna's broken leg and measured her condition.

"She looks fine, no need to cancel the exam. This will teach her a lesson." he said in a serious tone. No matter how much Mr Joseph tried to convince Laurence, he seemed to have failed. "Come on, get up, you've recovered enough. Let's find out how long you can survive with an injured leg," Laurence added.

Luna felt only a little pain as she stood up. Mr Joseph and Madison were really strong, but Laurence hadn't given her the time she needed to fully recover. Luna didn't even care about the little pain in her leg as she knew what the exam was.

The test was simply students travelling with their groups from a point to a target point. Although it seemed simple, the test was not measuring their strength anyway, it was measuring how united they could be as a team. This was a journey that lasted for days, and the students who got there in the required time without getting lost would become full hunters.

When they reached the starting point, Laurence gave a long speech. This year two groups from their camp had qualified to be hunters, the other group would try to get to the same destination from another starting point. Luna was sure that Laurence had deliberately given her group the most difficult spot.

Whatever happened, once Luna had successfully completed this test, she would no longer be scolded for her behaviour, maybe Madison and Alec would try to stop her from some of her behaviour, but that was it. She wanted to kill all the evil spirits, she wanted to protect people and she wanted there to be no more deaths.

After the teachers and Laurence left, the test started for them. They believed that by staying together as a group they could make it to the finish line. When they finally became full hunters, everything would be different.
